Babyville Boutique Review and Giveaway

After teaching myself how to sew again and making my own Mama Cloth, I have been wanting to learn how to make cloth diapers for my sweet girl!  Although I still need practice, there is something so rewarding about showing others what I've made!

The Babyville Boutique Company sent me a package to review and I am excited to share it with you!

Above is the package I received to make my diapers!  The books come complete with directions for beginners (Like ME).  Every type of diaper and cover is included in the instruction booklet.  I read the first few pages of the instruction book over a few times to make sure I was ready to begin.  On the right are the fabric choices included.  They are gender neutral and consist of a Playful Friends Monkey PUL, Orange Solid PUL, and Playful Friends Owls printed PUL.  Also included were some very cute appliques and labels, the FOE elastic and EZ adjust tape(Velcro).

My Review

I started with a newborn diaper cover with FOE(fold over elastic).  The instruction book goes step-by-step and even has pictures.  Being a visual person, this really helped me.  I had it by my side as I was working as to not make a mistake.  I made this for my sister who is expecting and is going to use prefolds and covers as newborn diapers.  I did have a model I borrowed for a few minutes so I could show you how it looks!

It really didn't take long for this diaper cover.  I think the most difficult part for me, other than my machine being from 1968, was the elastic.  The first time was the most challenging, but I know if I practice I will get better.  Below is a picture of my handy-work!

How cute is this owl print?!  I think my sister is going to love putting her little girl in this!!

If you were only making newborn size I think you could get at least two from this fabric cut.

Next, I chose to test my skills by making the basic pocket diaper.  It was a one size pattern, but after sewing it and trying it on little girl (18 months about 22 pounds) it was way too big.  I did apply two rows of snaps to the front to fold down so that this would be usable without me having to rip apart the whole diaper.

After cutting my fabrics and getting everything ready it probably took about an hour for this diaper.  I realized after sewing that I did not properly tighten the elastic around the legs,  which is a must as we all know!  The most time consuming part was using the seam ripper to rip all of my hard work!  The second time around was much better.

Below is the pocket style to fit my 18 month old!
I love the added touch of the monkey tag!

Overall, I was pleased with the ease of instructions and the cute materials for the diapers!  Like I mentioned before, I love the instructional pictures that are included as well as their video's on YouTube!  I would definitely purchase this from Babyville Boutique.
