What kind of Toothpaste are you using? Natural Day Review and Giveaway

Natural Day Toothpaste has sent me a tube of their mello mint toothpaste to review for my honest opinion and is giving one tube away to one of my readers!

Are you still using a toothpaste that has SLS (Sodium Laurel Sulfate) in the ingredient list?  If so you will want to stick around and read my post today!

Just a little about the company; Natural Day was started from a dad and daughter team who are both very well educated in chemical knowledge and knowing what was going into the mainstream toothpaste they knew there had to be a better alternative.

Below you can see the ingredient list from the Natural Day Website:

Natural Ingredients
Vegetable Glycerin, Purified Water, Xylitol, Calcium Carbonate, Carrageenan, Sodium Coco Sulfate, and USDA Organic Flavor Concentrates.

Vegetable Glycerin: Vegetable glycerin is a carbohydrate derived from coconut oil. In food products, it moistens, sweetens without raising glucose levels or contributing to tooth decay, and it's a natural preservative.

Xylitol: Xylitol (zahy-li-tawl) is an all natural sweetener approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and the World Health Organization’s Joint Expert Committee on Food Additives. It's safe for diabetics because it doesn't require insulin to be metabolized, and it has the added proven benefit of inhibiting the growth of bacteria in the mouth.

Calcium Carbonate: Calcium carbonate is a natural food grade mineral agent with cleaning and polishing qualities.

Carrageenan: Carrageenan is a seaweed extract (used in place of animal-based gelatin) to thicken and emulsify a variety of food products. It is 100% vegetarian.

Sodium Coco Sulfate: Sodium Coco Sulfate is an emulsifier and foaming agent that is derived from pure coconut oil. Unlike sodium lauryl sulfate, sodium coco sulfate does not contain dangerous manufacturing by-products.

USDA Organic Flavor Concentrates are set in an organic gum acacia base. All of our Natural Day™ flavor concentrates are certified USDA organic, kosher, vegan, food grade, gluten-free, and contain no allergens. The flavors we use in our toothpaste are also used in organic drinks, ice cream, and candy which means you and your children will love to brush your teeth with Natural Day™ Toothpaste!

Knowing what goes into a product is becoming more and more important to me and to my family.  Many of my family members have passed away and are still getting cancer everyday.  I believe the key to stopping this is by changing the little things that add up in our bodies.  We started with cloth diapers and now it has lead us to using unpaper towels, using castile soap for everything to clean with, using natural makeup or none at all, mama cloth, and many other things!

My thoughts on Natural Day Toothpaste:

-I like the consistency of it.  It is not too chalky like other natural pastes I have tried.

-Of course I like the ingredient list.

-The mello mint has a nice suttle flavor of mint not too overpowering.

-It doesn't burn my mouth like traditional toothpaste does.

-I am not putting toxins in my mouth!

You can purchase Natural Day on their website for 6.99 plus shipping.  Compared to traditional it is a little more pricy especially if you use coupons I know I have gotten free toothpaste.  The problem there is it is not good for you!  I would much rather spend a little extra to ensure my safety.

  1. My husband and I have talked about changing toothpastes but never have made the switch. We currently use the typical crest...I would love to try this before we take the plunge!

  3. I can't remember the name of mine but it's a cinnamon one and it's natural too. It might change if I were to try this one and like it.
