Barleans Chocolate Silk Greens Review {And Giveaway}

We love Barleans Chocolate Silk Greens here at our house so I wanted a chance to share the goodness with all of you!  I was sent a bottle to facilitate my review and wanted to share my and my families opinion with you!

Just a little about the company Barleans taken from their website:  The company originally started as a fishing business in Ferndale, WA but as the industry became harder to make it due to environment and political factors the owners looked to flax oils.  You can read more about how the company started and the history behind Barleans here.

Barleans has a variety of products they produce to be very fresh when you receive them.  Some of which include;  Flax Oils, Flax Oil Blends, Greens, Forti-Flax, Omega Kids and much more.  I want to share my experience with the Chocolate Silk Greens with you!

My Review:
First of all, when we started little girl off on regular milk we tried almond milk at first because I was unsure of cow's milk.  Long story short after switching to Organic cow's milk she wasn't too keen on it at first.  Here comes the "Cocos"  this is what her milk is called in our house.  Now we only put a tiny spoon full in her cup but I do not feel bad about it because of the awesome stuff is it made with!  Here is the list of ingredients from their website:

Here is a list of a few great things about the Powder:

  • More than 50 super foods and supplements
  • MEGA 5,000 ORAC antioxidant value per serving
  • Delicious chocolate flavor made with 100% natural cocoa powder
  • Perfect super-nutrition for the whole family - kid's love it!
  • Zero sugar - sweetened with all-natural stevia leaf extract
  • Perfect replacement for sugar-laden chocolate milk and hot chocolate
  • Delicious hot or cold
  • Dairy and Soy-Free

The jar has a 45 day supply but in our house we don't use a full scoop so it lasts much longer.  Hubby recently told me he has been putting it in his coffee for extra chocolate flavor and goodness.

Below is a picture of how we use it with little girl.  I just put milk in her cup add a little powder then shake well!  There you have "Cocos" and a happy toddler to boot!

You can find Barleans on their website where you can also search to find the closest store near you.  We have it at our local co-op grocery store which is awesome!

Sticky Icky Booger Bugs Book Review and Giveaway

When I had the opportunity to review this book I definitely wanted to read it!  I think it is great for a mom to teach others about their child that may be a little different as each child is!

Sherry Frith wrote Sticky Icky Booger Bugs after her sons, Kory and Kevin, were diagnosed with cystic fibrosis, a genetic disease in which mucus clogs the lungs and prevents food from being digested. She wanted to explain aspects of the disorder using words and helpful illustrations they could understand.

Sticky Icky Booger Bugs is the tale of a boy’s battle with cystic fibrosis as he attempts to avoid the hospital. The main character is Kory, who is just like any other kid. He loves recess, playing soccer, and exploring his neighborhood with his best friend. The book shows how with every puff, cough, and sneeze, Kory keeps the sticky icky booger bugs away so he can have fun every day.

I didn't know myself that cystic fibrosis was an inherited disease that affects the lungs and digestive system.  This book may have been written for children but I am sure many adults could learn from it as well.

While little girl is only a few days from being two, she learns a lot from reading.  We read before nap time and bedtime and she always picks the books she wants to read.  I feel she really does learn from them and can almost read some with me!  Since this one is paperback I do keep it out of reach because paperbacks don't last long if in her reach still!

The book is very well illustrated by Carol Newell Walter.

Overall, we are enjoying reading about Sticky Icky Booger Bugs and think other families could benefit from reading it as well!

Mac & Mae Baby Cloth Diaper Review and Giveaway

Mac & Mae Baby is a Baby store online and owned by a cloth diapering mama Rhonda.  I was introduced to her through my affiliation with The Rebecca's foundation Cloth Diaper Closet.

She started her store after doing research when her first child was taking longer than expected to potty train and decided it was best for them to make the switch to cloth diapers.  Rhonda tells me,

" The more research I did, the more I realized how important is was for me to switch, not just for my budget but also our health. When my second child came along and I starting shopping around for diapers, I realized there was a need in my area to bring affordable cloth diapers here, and to educate moms on how different they are from the old fashioned kind. So I decided to start my own business."

Mac & Mae Baby offers a variety of items including cloth diapers, several types of inserts, cloth diaper safe detergent, Pretty Cloth (mama cloth) and much more!

My Review
For my review I was sent Minky White with Pink Ladybugs & Flowers.  All of her diaper's include a 4 Layer Bamboo Insert.

I was also sent an extra hemp doubler insert as well as a 5 layer Charcoal Bamboo insert that has elastic gussets.

Things I liked about this diaper:

-The cute soft pattern on the outside (who wouldn't)

-The insert that is included is super absorbent

-The inside is made from Suede cloth and provides no piling effect like other diapers.  The outside is PUL so it is waterproof.

- The sides have three snaps to provide a better fit and prevent wing droop.  They also overlap for newborn sizes.  And two rows of snap downs.

-A sample of Country Save detergent is included with each order.  I had not used this before but found it worked and now I am considering switching because it is much cheaper than other detergents.

For the hemp doubler I tested it at night.  Normally our nighttime routine is either the Buttons diaper with both inserts or a BumGenius with two microfiber inserts and one bamboo (Yes, its huge).  The Mac & Mae Diaper worked very well in absorbing liquid!

A few nights out of the week hubby has to put little girl to bed because I am working.  I didn't have the diapers stuffed like I normally do so he used the gusseted insert and laid in on top of the diaper with two inserts in the pocket for nighttime!  I was surprised at how well it worked and little girl didn't feel wet in the morning!

One last thing that I was sent that Mac & Mae Baby sells was the Girlie Glue and crocheted butterfly bows for hair.  Since little girl has a ton of hair I decided to send these to my sister and have her try it out!  She loved it for my little niece!  Below are a few pictures and she said it was very easy to put on and take off!  Basically you put a small dab of the glue (which is made from Agave nectar and other natural ingredients) and the bow should last all day!  Such a cute idea!

Overall, I am very pleased with the quality of this diaper and wouldn't mind having a few more.  There are so many cute patterns and solid prints to choose from and if you have an older toddler in diapers she offers a line just for them!

Check out Mac & Mae Baby store here online, on Facebook and on Twitter!

Reflecting on this past year and looking on to the New Year!

Happy New Year's Day!

I just wanted to take a little time and write about things I am thankful for this year and set some goals (not resolutions) for the future.

This past year has been such a blessing little girl has grown so much and is talking more than ever and today she even said 5, 6, 7, 8 in a row sitting on the potty!  It is so much fun to see her blossoming into a little girl!  The best part about Christmas for me was seeing her face light up when she saw a manger seen in people's yards and said every time "Baby Jesus"!  Even at age almost 2 she got it, that Christmas is because Jesus was born!

My husband has been at his job for a year and has even got a little raise with insurance!  The year before we were barely making it but with help from our Church family we did make it and just thank God everyday for watching over and protecting us.

And I can't leave out our new little one on the way, what a special time it is to have another life growing!

We are not guaranteed tomorrow or even the next minute so we truly should be thankful for every breath of life.

James 4:14
Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist
that appears for a little while and then vanishes.

For this year I want to make it a priority to draw closer to God reading and praying each day and not just going through a routine.

I want to teach little girl more and more.  We are not going to put her in preschool so I feel like I should start more and more teaching her as I already do.

I want to spend less time on the internet and more time with my family and doing other things that are much more important.  I will still be blogging but not spending as much time doing it!

What are some things you are looking to change this year?

I would love to know!

Thank you for reading <3 Miranda
