My Bathroom Makeover: GE Reveal Light Bulbs Review

*I was sent a product for my opinion in this review*

Recently I was contacted and asked to review the new GE light bulbs called reveal.  At first I had to think about it then after looking up in the bathroom at those bright twisted bulbs I quickly said yes!  Anything had to be better right?!

Once we did the makeover which was literally seconds our bathroom is so much better to be in.  Let's face it putting on makeup with bright lights is not flattering (not that I wear makeup that often:).

You can see my pictures below:

I do not have the best camera but you can tell a definite difference from before.

Butterfly Bottoms Cloth Diapers Review {and Giveaway}

Cassie, owner of Butterfly Bottoms, kindly sent me (Ginger) a One Size AIO (all-in-one) diaper to review for my honest opinion.

To shed some light on her background: Cassie’s “love affair” with cloth diapers began in 2010 when her sister in law was pregnant.  Around 20 weeks of pregnancy with her youngest daughter, Cassie researched the benefits of cloth diapering and knew it was for her!  Growing up, her mom was frequently sewing, which lead to her love of sewing years later.   After trying lots of free diaper patterns and using her own child as a guinea pig, she drafted her own pattern.

I chose a trendy hot pink chevron pattern…super cute!  I think it’s constructed really well, and it’s obvious a lot of thought went into the design.  The AIO consists of an outside layer of PUL, an inside layer of PUL and Organic Bamboo Fleece, and two soaker petals.

The soakers are sewn in and the top and bottom and are made up of two layers of Hemp Cotton Fleece and two layers of Organic Bamboo Fleece.   You also have the option of adding a stay-dry layer of suede cloth or micro fleece.

The AIO features a snap down rise with 3 different settings.  My daughter is almost 3 months old and weighs 12 pounds.  I was able to get the best fit using the smallest rise setting and using the 4th snap in on the waist.   This diaper is made to fit babies between 7.5 and 37 pounds, so that leaves plenty of growing room!

As with most AIO diapers, drying time is longer, but the convenience of not having to stuff anything makes up for it in my opinion.

This diaper has to be one of the most absorbent I’ve tried, and we have quite a variety of brands in our stash.  When we tested the diaper, my girl had it on for two hours and it could have been on much longer.  We took it off because it was bath time J Just to give you an idea, I broke the “rules” and only washed the diaper 2 times before using it (the instructions state to wash 5-6 times so the fabric will reach full absorbency).   Speaking of washing, in case you forget, there is a tag sewn in to remind you to cold rinse, hot wash, and 2x cold rinse.  And hang dry or tumble dry low.

In closing, for being an AIO it’s still a fairly trim-fitting diaper.  I also think it’s well made and affordable!

Butterfly Bottoms also makes OS pocket diapers, newborn diapers, diaper bags, bibs, and diaper clutches.  Want to see what’s in stock or request a custom order? Check out the etsy shop

Spuds Seedling Gift Set Review and Giveaway {#WhateverGoes Hop}

Welcome to the "Whatever Goes" Giveaway Hop hosted by Mommy's Favorite Things and Mama's Baby Cupcakes.
This hop is an open theme so whatever the blogger wants to showcase goes!! After visiting my giveaway, make sure you use the linky below to take a look at the other bloggers and see what they have to offer! Each blog has a minimum prize package of $25 per winner.

For my prize For Your Bug-a-Boo is offering the same item I am reviewing!  Its value is $32.95 and it is a Spuds Seedling Gift Set!

I am excited to be sharing this set with you!  I wrote a while back about the toy set we received from For Your Bug-a-Boo which is an all natural store that has many things such as diapers, wraps, toys, baby essentials and much more!  You can see my toy post here.  I mentioned how I wanted to try the seedlings set and they graciously sent me one to review!

Pictured above the set includes:
Open Plate: 6.5in x 6.5in
Small Bowl/Plate: 3.5in x 3.5in
Cup: 3in tall
Utensils:  4in long

The Spuds Seedling Gift Set is unique in a few ways but the most interesting is that it is all made from non GMO, reclaimed potatoes!

Just a little about the Spuds company from the For Your Bug-a-Boo website:

Spuds is a U.S. based natural and organic children's product designer and manufacturer, providing products needed to create a safe and healthy environment for today's children and generations to come.

Spuds product lines are real solutions to the demand for convenience goods that are individually safe and healthy with little or no negative environmental impact. Their products are made from "Spudmer", a bio-plastic which comes from reclaimed potato! No potatoes are grown for Spudmer.  Rather it is based on a side stream potato starch of the potato processing industry.

The vegetable components enables Spuds to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and the consumption of energy and of non-renewable resources with reclaimed raw materials of agricultural origin which are returned to the environment without releasing pollutants through the processes of biodegradation and composting, thereby completing a virtuous, Ecocentric circle.

The things we love about it are that first of all its pink!  But it does also come in other colors such as blue and red.  The best thing of all is there are no toxins going into your child's food!  I like the wooden basket that it comes in and we have found another use for it.  The set is dishwasher safe on the top shelf which makes clean up easier, but you would not want to microwave the set!  Little girl loves using her dishes and she is getting to where now I will let her try to drink from the little cup!   My girl is growing up!

Below she is eating mac-n-chz her all time favorite for lunch.  Forgive the pj's at lunch time but we were having a lazy snow day here!

Overall, we love the Spuds Seedling set and it would make a great gift or starter set for your little one!

Granola Recipe

I have been wanting to share my (and my sisters) granola recipe with you all but just really have forgot!  I had a former co-worker ask me for it and I made it myself yesterday and I just have to share it its that good!

Now for the recipe:

Dry Mixture
4 cups rolled oats
1 cup almonds
1 cup walnuts
1 cup pecans
1/2 cup wheat germ
1/4 cup flax meal
1/4 cup flax seeds

Wet mixture
1/3 cup Tropical Traditions Coconut Oil (or any oil)
1/2 cup honey
1/2 cup maple syrup
1tsp. vanilla

Directions:
-Turn oven to 300

-Mix dry ingredients together then bake on two cookie sheets lined with either parchment or a silpat.

-Stir every 5 mins or so...(You don't want it to burn)

-Next, dump dry ingredients in big bowl-add wet ingredients the coconut oil will be chunky but its okay it will melt as soon as you add it!

-Place mixture on cookie sheets and bake for 10-15 mins more until you think its dried out a little

After it has cooled on the pans transfer to a container and seal for freshness!

Note:  I did not have almonds on hand so I just substituted another kind of nuts its really up to you!  Also, the parchment is much easier to pour from the pans!

Now time to enjoy on some yogurt is my favorite way with fresh strawberries!

If you try it let me know how you liked it!

Thanks for reading!

-Miranda :)
